iMessage setup

Why iMessage takes 72 hours to activate and what we do on our end during that window.

iMessage is one of the two outbound channels on the iMessage plan ($300/seat/month). It uses native Apple Messages on a Mac in our datacenter, which means borrowers see the rich blue-bubble experience instead of green SMS.

Why it takes 72 hours

iMessage cannot run as a hosted API. To deliver iMessage we run a Mac mini per workspace, with a real Apple ID, signed in to Messages. When you sign up we provision one of those Macs for you.

The provisioning steps are:

  1. We add your workspace to the Mac mini fleet config.
  2. We sign in a fresh Apple ID and verify it.
  3. We sync your contacts so Messages auto-shares the loan officer's name and photo.
  4. We connect the Mac to LendAxiom's bridge over Cloudflare Tunnel.

That whole chain runs in under 72 hours, usually within 24. We email you when it is ready.

What you can do during that window

Everything except outbound iMessage. SMS via Twilio works the moment you connect Twilio. Email, calendar booking, lead import, drip configuration, and the rest of the product all work normally during provisioning.

How will I know it's live

The integrations panel in Settings shows iMessage with status "Activating" until we mark it live. When the bridge connects, the status flips to "Connected" and the next outbound iMessage you send to a confirmed Apple-using borrower goes blue.
