Connecting Twilio for SMS

How to find your Account SID, generate an auth token, and verify the connection.

Twilio is the default SMS provider on the SMS-only and iMessage plans. You bring your own Twilio account so you keep direct control over numbers, billing, and compliance.

Find your credentials

  1. Sign in at twilio.com/console.
  2. Your Account SID and Auth Token are visible on the dashboard. The SID starts with AC. Treat the auth token like a password.
  3. If you do not already have a Twilio phone number, buy one in the Phone Numbers section. Pick a local number when possible because borrowers ignore unknown long numbers.

Connect inside LendAxiom

  1. Click the messaging step in the onboarding sidebar, or go to Settings -> Integrations.
  2. Open the Twilio setup modal.
  3. Paste your Account SID, Auth Token, and the Twilio phone number you bought.
  4. Enter your verified mobile number as the test number. We send a single test SMS to confirm everything works.
  5. Click Connect.

If the test SMS sends, your credentials are stored encrypted and Twilio appears as Connected. If it fails, the modal shows the exact reason from Twilio so you can fix the input.

Common failures

  • 401 / 20003 from Twilio: the Account SID or Auth Token is wrong. Double-check both.
  • "Permission denied to send to that number": Twilio requires you to verify mobile numbers on free trial accounts. Verify the test number first.
  • Phone number formatting: enter the sender and test numbers in E.164 format with the country code. Example: +15551234567.
